Concussion Protocol
The safety of our players is a top priority. While concussions in youth baseball are relatively uncommon, it’s important that coaches, parents, players, and volunteers understand how to recognize and respond to head injuries.
Spring Klein Sports Association (SKSA) encourages everyone to become familiar with concussion symptoms, prevention, and proper response. Taking the right steps quickly can help prevent serious injury.
SKSA Concussion Policy
- Any player or coach who sustains or is suspected of sustaining a head injury must be immediately removed from play.
- The individual must be evaluated by a licensed healthcare professional as soon as possible.
- All head injuries must be reported to SKSA using the Concussion Report Form so the board is aware of the situation.
- A player or coach may only return to practice or games:
- After at least 24 hours, and
- With written medical clearance submitted to SKSA
🚫 No individual will be allowed to return to play without proper medical clearance.
CDC Concussion Resources
We strongly recommend reviewing the following resources provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
- Heads Up for Youth Sports
- Concussion Training
- Parent Information Sheets
These tools are free and provide valuable information to help recognize and respond to concussions.
